Lukenya Assistant County Commissioner Elizabeth Karitu has been interdicted and arrested for allegedly losing keys to a national examinations container. Ms Karitu was arrested on Saturday night and detained at the Parklands Police Station in Nairobi. The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has dismissed a petition filed by Jubilee candidate in Kibra by-election McDonald Mariga against ODM’s Imran Okoth. In a ruling delivered on Friday, Commission Chairman Wafula Chebukati stated that the electoral body had acknowledged the issues raised by Mariga but dismissed his complaint for want of compliance with regulations 8 and 15 of Electoral conduct. Reuben Katana, the Orange Democratic Movement candidate in the Ganda ward by-election is the winner of the hotly contested seat in the Thursday mini-poll. Katana garnered 4,177 votes to trounce Independent candidate Abdul Omar, who managed 2,331 votes. The Inspector-General of Police Hillary Mutyambai has directed that all officers, who have served in one region for more than three years be transferred. The Ministry of Health (MoH) has ordered the closure of 811 medical centres across the country for failing to meet minimum standards for licensure. Aga Khan University Hospital, AAR Mountain Mall both situated along Thika Road, and Shalom Medical Centre all in Nairobi County are some of the notable medical centres on the list. Malindi Member of Parliament Aisha Jumwa and her bodyguard Okuto Otieno have been released from police custody on Ksh500,000 cash bail or Ksh1 million bond each. The two, who were arrested on Wednesday morning at around 3am, were arraigned at Mombasa Law Courts.
