Police have launched investigations following a fire incident at the Central Bank of Kenya Kisumu. Reports indicate that the fire broke out at around 11pm on Thursday night. Officers from the adjacent CBK Police Post were among the first group of security officers to respond to the scene. They attempted to put out the fire using portable fire extinguishers before they were joined by fire fighters from the Kisumu County Fire Station. Popular Rwandan Youtuber Yvonne Idamange was on Thursday sentenced to 15-years in jail for her critical comments against President Paul Kagame. Idamange, a genocide survivor, was also fined around Ksh221,100. The prosecution had sought a 30-year sentence and a Ksh663,300 fine. The 42-year-old mother of four had been accused of “inciting violence” after she accused President Kagame of being a dictator on her channel. KANU delegates on Thursday unanimously endorsed party chairman Gideon Moi for the presidency in the General Election scheduled for August 9, 2022. The High Court has barred the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) from conducting the Kiagu Ward by-election that was scheduled for October October 14, 2021. This is following a petition filed by Moses Kuria’s Chama Cha Kazi  (CCK) party challenging a move by the electoral body to bar its candidate from participating in the mini-poll. Gertrude Chepkoech suffered multiple stab wounds after she was attacked by a man who is alleged to be her roommate’s boyfriend on Wednesday. The Nairobi County leadership has closed Uhuru Park for a three-month period for renovation works. The renovations aimed at giving the popular park located next to the Central Business District (CBD) a facelift will be done by the Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS). The Nairobi City Water & Sewerage Company has announced plans to shut down the water supply pipeline along Mombasa Road due to ongoing construction of the Expressway Highway. First-year students admitted to universities this year will receive their student loans in mid-October, the Higher Educations Loans Board (Helb) has announced. Helb Chief Executive Officer Charles Ringera said the agency had already disbursed loans to 10,000 students. Police in Kilgoris are holding a couple following the death of their 8-year-old child after a domestic brawl in Majengo area. A police report seen by this writer indicates that the parents identified as Amos Maengwe, 30, and Esther Kaiseyi, 21, were quarreling when the man attempted to hit the wife with a wooden object but missed and hit the girl. The family of the late Dutch businessman Tob Cohen has announced plans to sue the Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji over the alleged selective prosecution of murder suspects in the case.
