The Kenya Copyright Board (KECOBO) has deregistered three music Collective Management Organisations (CMOs) over failure to meet licensing conditions and mismanagement of funds. The three are Kenya Association of Music Producers (KAMP), Performers Rights Society of Kenya (PRISK) and the Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK). A 22-year-old woman has been arrested in Bomet following the death of her son on Monday morning. Police reports indicate that Sharon Chebet, a resident of Chepkogen village in Chemaner, plunged her two boys aged 6 and 4 years into a 40-metre well and left them to drown at about 10am. The High Court in Nairobi has restrained police from accessing premises of the Law Society of Kenya amid claims by LSK President Nelson Havi that the men and women in uniform are being used by the state to frustrate operations of the lawyers’ body. The Kenya Copyright Board (KECOBO) has warned members of the public against participating in Cadbury’s ‘In Our Own Words’ campaign citing exploitation by the chocolate company. The campaign requires Kenyan writers to submit original stories that would be turned into storybooks to help promote the reading culture among children. Kenya has received 880,460 doses of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine in renewed efforts to inoculate a large percentage of Kenyans who are yet to receive the crucial jab. The vaccine that arrived in the country on Monday morning was donated by the United States government through the COVAX facility and transported by United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). Four people died on Saturday and several others injured after an accident at Kaburengu bridge along Webuye Eldoret highway. The accident occurred after a truck collied with a probox before bursting into flames, burning several other cars at the scene of the crash. The Court of Appeal has upheld the High Court judgment that declared the constitution amendment bill, popularly referred to as the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI), unconstitutional, null and void. In a ruling delivered on Friday, a seven-judge bench led by Court of Appeal President Daniel Musinga ruled that the process was illegal and unconstitutional. Police say the suspects are linked to a syndicate that involves luring unsuspecting motor vehicle buyers before killing them.
