Police in Ikonge, Nyamira North are holding a Deliverance church cleric for claims of defilement.
Meshack Mutemi, 42, was busted in the act with a Grade eight pupil inside the church at Ikonge, North Mugirango, Nyamira County.
Witnesses said they saw the beastly cleric walking with the minor into the church before locking themselves inside.
A local administrator said they found two doors locked from inside with the lights switched off.
“We tried to call but there was total silence. We tried to open the window and on peeping in, we saw some keys on the table. Since the public was eager to know the truth, we tried to call the pastor’s number but was switched off,” a witness said.
Later they called his wife who turned up to assist them trace the husband.
“Upon seeing the keys on the table, she almost fainted. Shortly later, the pastor emerged from the shadows and asked to be forgiven.”
“He opened the door with the keys which were on the table. We entered in and found him without shoes. We entered into a temporary kitchen in a corner of the church and found shoes of a young girl. On a corner stood a long 310 litre drum.”
“Upon opening it we found the girl locked in the drum with a lid on top,” the witness said.
He said the 14 year old grade eight pupil was found wet in the drum.
“Her inner wear had spots of semen suspected to be of the beastly cleric,” he said.
The suspect is due to be arraigned on Tuesday, police said.
