BlackBerry has announced that the much acclaimed BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) will be soon available to iPhone and Android users.
This is going to be a great challenge to the apps which are doing well in the iOS and Android platforms like Whatsapp, WeChat, Viber and others. Whatsapp is currently the market leader in the two platforms outside BlackBerry. Whatsapp is available on iOS, Android, Windows Phone, Series 40, Symbian S60 and BlackBerry 7 and 10.
Whatsapp currently handles more than 20 billion messages everyday sent by more than 200 million registered users. Whatsapp claim to have more users than Twitter.
BBM will be available to version 6 and above on iOS and version 4 and above on Android users by September 2013. More than 51 million BlackBerry users are on BBM every single day. On BBM, users love the secret PIN which can be shared with those you wish to communicate with.
