A boda boda rider was stabbed and killed in a clash among the riders over planned elections to elect their officials in Rongo Town, Migori County.

Police said at least five others were injured in the chaos that broke out on Tuesday evening.

Police said two boda boda factions met to agree on the way forward for the coming polls when a fight broke out.

They then started to hurl stones at each other before others were stabbed. It was then that Steve Okoth, 30 was stabbed and killed. Five others were admitted in hospital with multiple injuries.

Police later announced the polls that were scheduled for November 6, 2025 in the town had been cancelled by the local security committee.

The body of the deceased was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and investigations.

Elsewhere in Gatitu, Nyeri County, police arrested the wife of a man who had died after a domestic fight in their home.

The man identified as Francis Magothe had died in hospital after the fight on October 31, 2025 and succumbed on arrival. An autopsy on the body showed he had sustained injuries inflicted by a blunt object on his forehead.

In Kahuro, Muranga County, one Christine Mukami, 30, who was employed as a worker at the farm was found lying dead on the floor inside a servant’s quarter under construction.

The body was discovered by the farm manager and lay in a pool of blood with deep cuts on the face.

The motive of the murder was not immediately established. The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and investigations.
