Police have launched investigations after the body of a seven-year-old boy who had been reported missing was found in a tea plantation in Nyamira County.
The body of the child, a Grade One pupil at Sunflower Academy Primary School, was discovered on Thursday afternoon in Getare Location, Manga Sub-County.
According to police, the incident was reported from a Nyumba Kumi official that a child’s body had been found in a tea plantation.
Officers from the National Police Service, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), and the area chief visited the scene and confirmed that the child had been murdered. The body had visible injuries to the head and neck.
Preliminary investigations established that Cornelius had gone missing from his home on Wednesday evening at around 7:00 p.m.
Crime scene investigators documented and processed the scene before the body was moved to the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary, where a post-mortem examination is expected to be conducted.
Police have launched investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the murder and identify those responsible.
And police in Magarini Sub-county are investigating the death of a 37-year-old man who drowned in a well at Angels Bay in Kilifi County.
The deceased, identified as Katana Charo Vuko, was found in a well at Nzaro’s homestead in the Angels Bay area.
Police officers from Gongoni Police Station and detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) visited the scene and established that the deceased had a known history of epilepsy.
His brother confirmed to investigators that Katana had been living with the condition.
Police said the body had no visible external injuries. The scene was processed, photographed and documented by DCI officers before the body was moved to the Malindi Sub-County General Hospital mortuary, where an autopsy will be conducted to establish the exact cause of death.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
