Cabinet Secretary for Water, Sanitation and Irrigation Erick Muuga has made sweeping changes in key water agencies, appointing new board members and revoking some previous appointments.

In the changes announced through a gazette notice dated August 8, 2025, Muuga appointed Mary Wambui Mungai as the non-executive Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Athi Water Works Development Agency for a three-year term.

At the same time, he revoked the appointment of Charles Kamau Karondo, who had been appointed by President William Ruto to replace Wambui Mungai as non-executive Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Communications Authority.

The CS also named Mung’athia Nicholas as a member of the Board of Directors of the Athi Water Works Development Agency for a three-year term.

In other appointments, Muuga re-appointed Millicent Oduor Olando and Mwita Maisoro to continue serving on the Board of Directors of the Lake Victoria South Water Works Development Agency for another three years.

Dr. Sammy Letema and David Kipchirchir Kimetto were also re-appointed to the Board of Directors of the North Rift Valley Water Works Development Agency.

For the Tana Water Works Development Agency, the CS appointed Hared Singira and Anastacia Nyagaki Njoroge as board members.

Beatrice Mbete Musyoki was named to the Board of Directors of the Tanathi Water Works Development Agency, while Stephen Kipkebut and Stellah Karimi Gituma were appointed to the Board of Directors of the Regional Centre on Ground Water Resources Education, Training and Research, each for a three-year term.

    The appointments take effect immediately.
