Police in Embakasi launched investigations after the decomposing torso of a woman was discovered dumped in a polythene bag along North Airport Road near the airport fence.

According to police the body was found a few metres off the road opposite a Rubis petrol station within the Embakasi area on Friday evening.

Officers from the National Police Service visited the scene and confirmed that the remains were those of a female in an advanced state of decomposition.

Police said the torso had been packed inside a Nigerian polythene bag, with preliminary observations suggesting the location may have been a secondary crime scene where the body was dumped after the killing elsewhere.

Crime scene investigators from Embakasi processed the area before the remains were moved to the City Mortuary for preservation, identification and postmortem examination.

No arrests had been made by Sunday as detectives intensified investigations into the murder.

The incident adds to the growing list of women being killed in a worrying trend amid efforts to solve the cases.

And a teacher from St. Cecilia School Misikhu died in a suspected murder incident after reportedly falling ill while spending the night with his girlfriend at a hotel in Webuye, Bungoma County.

Police identified the deceased as Caleb Wekesa.

Wekesa and his girlfriend allegedly met on the evening of Friday, May 23, at SK Club where they drank with friends before later proceeding to Thumbs Club in Webuye.

The two are said to have left the entertainment spot at around 11pm and booked a room at Satellite Hotel in Webuye for the night.

Police said that at around 12.20am on Saturday, Wekesa reportedly started feeling unwell, prompting Naliaka to alert the hotel management.

Hotel staff reportedly responded and found him in the room with foam oozing from his mouth.,

He was first rushed to Calvary Hospital in Webuye before being referred to Webuye County Hospital, where he was pronounced dead about 10 minutes after arrival.

Officers from Matulo Police Post and detectives from the Sub-County Criminal Investigations Office (SCCIO) visited and documented the scene as investigations into the death commenced.

The body was moved to Webuye Sub-County Hospital mortuary pending an autopsy to establish the cause of death.

Police said the woman was placed in custody to assist detectives with investigations into the incident.
