Police in Kitui Central Sub-County launched investigations into the killing of a 76-year-old woman whose body was found in a thicket on Thursday afternoon.

The deceased, identified as Mariah Musyoka, was discovered at Ngiini Village in Kalundu Sub-location.

Police who responded to the report found the body lying in a prone position with visible cuts on the face. The woman was found without clothes, while some garments and a plastic container of milk were recovered beside the body.

Preliminary findings indicate that the deceased had left her home on Wednesday morning at around 9:00 a.m. to buy milk from a local shop but never returned.

Police suspect she may have been attacked by unknown assailants on her way back home.

The scene was processed by investigators, and the body was moved to Kitui County Referral Hospital mortuary, where a postmortem examination will be conducted.

Authorities say investigations are ongoing as they pursue leads into the suspected murder.

Police in Taveta Sub-County, Taita Taveta County, are investigating a suspected murder incident in which a 47-year-old man was found dead outside his residence.

The deceased, identified as Kinyua Kilonzo Mutiso, was discovered lying in a supine position outside his one-room rental house on Thursday morning, police said.

Police officers who responded to the scene found the body with blood oozing from the mouth and a deep stab wound on the left side of the chest.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the deceased had an altercation with one of his tenants during the night prior to the incident. The suspect was later apprehended near the scene and is being treated as a suspect in the murder.

The scene was processed by investigators before the body was moved to Taveta Sub-County Hospital mortuary, where a postmortem examination is expected to be conducted.

Police say investigations are ongoing and the motive is yet to be known.
