Drawing a snail is a fun and creative way to practice sketching animals with simple shapes. Snails are easy to draw because their body and shell are made of smooth, curved lines. Whether you’re doing a nature-themed project or just doodling for fun, learning how to draw a snail step by step will help improve your drawing skills.

Step 1: Draw the Snail’s Shell

Start with the shell, which looks like a spiral. Draw a large circle on one side of your paper. Inside the circle, draw a smaller spiral by curving a line inward in a looping pattern. This spiral should look like it’s turning toward the center of the shell.

Step 2: Draw the Snail’s Body

From the bottom of the shell, draw a long curved line stretching outward and downward to form the base of the snail’s body. Mirror this line slightly above it to complete the body shape. The body should be wide and rounded at the front, narrowing slightly toward the back where it connects to the shell.

Step 3: Add the Snail’s Head and Tentacles

At the front end of the body, draw a slightly curved bump to represent the snail’s head. On top of the head, draw two thin, long stalks or tentacles pointing upward. These are the eye stalks. At the tips, add small circles to represent the eyes. You can also add two shorter tentacles beneath them to show the snail’s sensory feelers.

    Step 4: Add Facial Features

For a cute touch, draw two small circles or dots inside the eye stalks for pupils. You can add a smiling mouth just below the eye stalks to give the snail a friendly face. This step is optional but adds personality to your drawing.

Step 5: Draw the Ground or Trail

To show that the snail is moving, draw a short wavy line beneath the body as the slime trail. You can also add grass, leaves, or a rock around the snail to place it in a natural environment.

    Step 6: Outline and Color

Trace over your drawing with a black pen or dark pencil to define the lines. Erase any extra sketch lines. Then, color the snail. The shell can be brown, yellow, or even rainbow-colored for a fun twist. The body is usually grey, brown, or greenish, but you can use any colors you like.
