Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi was robbed at an airport in Italy where he was going for another meeting after attending the UN Habitat meeting in Brussels, Belgium.
A CCTV review showed a man walking away with the Governor’s briefcase which contained his passports and other important documents.

The incident happened on Saturday causing the governor to miss the Kenya coast Guard service launch which happened on Monday, as he did not have his documents readily available.
“Unfortunately upon arrival at the airport in Italy on 17th Nov, my briefcase containing my passport and other important documents was stolen . I immediately reported the matter to the airport Police and the Kenyan Embassy in Rome,” he said.
Governor Kingi was provided with an emergency passport to facilitate his travel back to Kenya as they carry out further investigations.
