The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has opened applications for the March 2026 intake at the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC).

The move offers thousands of Form Four leavers a chance to study medical, health, and allied science programmes across the country.

In a public notice released on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, KUCCPS invited candidates who sat the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) between 2000 and 2024 to apply.

Applicants are required to use the KUCCPS online portal at students.kuccps.ac.ke. The application deadline is January 27, 2026.

According to KUCCPS, this placement exercise is part of an expanded effort to train more health professionals to meet the growing demand in hospitals, public health units, and community health services.

KMTC, the country’s largest health training institution, has over 70 campuses nationwide. It offers certificate and diploma programmes in nursing, clinical medicine, laboratory sciences, nutrition, emergency care, public health, and other specialised fields.

Applicants can choose from more than 30 courses, each with specific minimum KCSE subject and grade requirements. KUCCPS urged students to check cut-off grades carefully before applying.

Among the entry-level courses is the Certificate in Community Health Assistant, which requires a C- mean grade. This course is available at campuses in Nairobi, Embu, Kakamega, Lodwar, Kwale, Kangema, Nyahururu, Teso, Vihiga, Trans-Mara, Chemolingot, Mandera, and Siaya-Ugunja. It trains frontline community health workers who support disease prevention and primary healthcare.

Candidates with a D+ mean grade can apply for programmes like Certificate in Health Insurance Management, offered in Nairobi and Bondo, targeting careers in health financing, claims management, and insurance administration. Other certificate courses include Health Records and IT, Medical Emergency Technician, Medical Engineering, Nutrition and Dietetics, Orthopaedic Trauma Medicine, and Public Health, with campuses varying by programme.

KMTC is also accepting students for diploma programmes, generally requiring a C mean grade. High-demand courses such as Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery are available in more than 30 campuses including Eldoret, Embu, Homa Bay, Kapkatet, Kilifi, Kisii, Loitokitok, Machakos, Mombasa, Nairobi, Nyeri, Thika, and Voi.

Other diploma programmes open for applications include Community Oral Health, Dental Technology, Emergency Medical Technology, Health Counselling, Health Insurance Management, Health Promotion, Public Health, Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing, Kenya Registered Nursing, and Kenya Registered Nursing and Midwifery.

Specialised technical diplomas such as Medical Engineering, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Radiography and Imaging, Orthopaedic and Trauma Medicine, Optometry, Occupational Therapy, and Medical Laboratory Sciences are also available.

KMTC continues to expand training through satellite campuses in county hospitals, allowing students to gain practical clinical experience early in their studies.

KUCCPS encouraged applicants to log in to the portal, review course requirements, and select programmes that match their KCSE performance and career goals. The agency also noted that the eligibility window includes KCSE candidates from 2000 to 2024, giving both school leavers and adult learners a chance to re-enter higher education.
