    Man fatally stabs brother in fight over land in Elgeyo Marakwet

    A man stabbed and killed his brother in a fight over land dispute in Metkei, Elgeyo Marakwet County.

    Police said Daniel Kiplagat was stabbed in the chest and died outside their father’s after the Saturday November 1 incident.

    The assailant used a kitchen knife in committing the murder before escaping the scene.

    The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy, police said.

    And a woman was hacked to death by an assailant in Isinya area, Kajiado County.

    The deceased was identified as Rebecca Wafula, 26 who worked at a local factory. She and her colleagues had alighted from a matatu on Saturday morning and were walking for the firm when an assailant armed with forked jembe struck.

    The two colleagues scampered for their safety as the assailant struck.

    The motive of the fatal attack was not immediately known.

    The other colleagues said the assailant approached them from the bush while covering his face and hit the victim in the head.

    She bled and died at the scene. Police said they are investigating the incident.

    The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy even as the hunt on the assailat goes on.

    In Katilu, Aroo, Turkana County, gunmen shot and killed one Longol Akwaee, 45 in an ambush. Another man was shot and seriously injured in the hand before being rushed to the hospital.

    The two were ambushed as they left a church event on Saturday the motive of the attack was not immediately known.

    The area has been experiencing cases of armed attacks amid efforts to address the menace. Multi agencies have since been deployed there to address the same.

    The area is among those under Operation Maliza Uhalifu aimed at dealing with bandits.

    The operation has managed to contain crime in the area and other counties amid persistence.

    The operation targets Baringo, West Pokot, Turkana, Samburu, Marsabit, Meru and Isiolo counties.

    Besides retributive reaction, strategic investment and sustainable development have also taken a prominent place among the government’s planned crime control interventions for Kenya’s Northern frontier and the Kerio Valley belt.

    Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen said the long-term vision is to empower the communities to actively take part in the war against animal rustling and undertake legitimate nation-building activities.

    He said plans to distribute subsidized agricultural inputs and extension services to area residents in a bid to revive farming activities as a source of livelihood.

    Murkomen ordered fresh vetting for all National Police Reservists (NPRs) as part of efforts to bolster the operations.
