A 33-year-old was found dead in his house after he had killed his wife and later died by suicide in Kuresoi, Nakuru County.
The motive of the murder and suicide was not immediately known. The police said the body of James Karanja was found hanging on a truss with a rope tied on his neck while that of his wife Margret Wamuyu, 30 was found lying on her bed.
The bodies were first discovered by the couple’s ten-year-old daughter.
She told police she woke up on January 31, 2026 and realized her mother had not woken up as usual to prepare their breakfast.
She went to check on her only to stumble on the bodies of the parents. She screamed for help and neighbours rushed to open for her when they also found the bodies.
The neigbours said the couple has been having domestic issues and quarreled often.
The body of the woman had injuries on the head suspected to have been caused by a blunt object and blood was oozing from the mouth and nose.
The bodies were moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures, police said.
Suicide cases have been on the rise amid efforts to address the menace.
In Kiganjo, Kiambu County, one David Nganga, 30 was found dead on the roadside after a suspected murder.
The body had injuries in the head, legs and blood was oozing from the ear, police said.
The motive of the murder was not immediately known.
Police moved the body to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.
In Macalder, Migori County, one Benjamin Mukapa, 31 died in hospital after being assaulted by people known to him at a funeral event. Police said they arrested four suspects over the murder and will face charges later on after the probe.
In Kabete area, Nairobi, a suspect was lynched by a mob after being accused of stealing water meters in the area. The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.
In Manyatta, Embu County, a man was found dead in his house after he had been attacked by a mob.
