    Michael Olunga Flies Kenyan Flag In Japan After Crucial Victory

    Harambee Stars striker Michael Olunga was on the score sheet as his side Kashiwa Reysol beat Sanfrecce Hiroshima 3-0 in the J-League away at Edion Stadium Saturday.

    At the end of the crucial victory which saw Kashiwa crawl out of relegation zone, Olunga, who scored the third goal celebrated by flying the Kenyan flag.

    Junya Ito grabbed a brace in the game.

    The goal was Olunga’s third in the Japanese topflight and a second on the trot.

    The ex-Gor Mahia’s talisman was also on the scoreboard the previous weekend in a disappointing 3-2 loss to Urawa Reds at home.

    The win ended Kashiwa’s four-match winless streak as they moved out of the chop-zone to 13th position in the 18-team standings on 33 points after 29 games.

    In the Premier League, Harambee Stars skipper Victor Wanyama came on as an 85th minute substitute in Tottenham’s 1-0 win against bottom placed Cardiff City Saturday.

    While in the Belgian Pro League, defender Abud Omar clocked 90 minutes as Cercle Brugge’s 2-1 win over Sporting Charleroi.

    In the Zambian Super League, Anthony Akumu, David Owino and Jesse Were were Saturday crowned the league champions with Zesco United for the second time on the trot.

    In the Premier Soccer League of South Africa, defender Brian Mandela Onyango played managed full game as Maritzburg United settled for a barren draw against Cape Town City.

    Apart from Owino, who is nursing a long term injury, the rest of the foreign-based players are in Harambee Stars’ squad for Wednesday and Sunday’s 2019 Afcon qualifiers double header against Ethiopia.
