Michael Olunga recorded a brace as Kashiwa Reysol edged out FC Tokyo 2-1 in the J. League Cup at Kashiwa Hitachi Stadium on Wednesday.
The Harambee Stars forward was marking his start for Reysol since a disappointing 2018 season which saw them relegated.
Olunga leveled Tsuyoshi Watanabe’s 32nd minute opener before sealing the win with a brace in the 65th minute.
The win lifts Reysol up to second in Group B behind Vegalta Sendai who were 3-1 winners over Sagana Tosu also on the same day.

The 24 year old was an unused sub in the opening day of the league win over Renofa Yamaguchi two weeks ago before coming off the bench for his first appearance of the season in Saturday’s win over Machida Zelvia.
The two goals take his tally for the club to five goals in all competitions since he joined in August of 2018.
Olunga was among foreign based players summoned for the final round of the AFCON 2019 qualifiers against Ghana away on 23rd March.
