    Mother, son die in fire incident in Mwiki

    A woman aged 30 and her three-year-old son died in a fire incident in Mwiki area, Kasarani, Nairobi.

    Police said the incident happened on Saturday October 25, 2025 in the morning.

    The fire had broken out on the fourth floor of an apartment prompting the neighbours to raise an alarm.

    The mother, identified as Mary Wambui Wanjiru and her son were in the house. The neighbours rushed to their rescue and managed to contain the spread of the fire before rushing them to the hospital where they were pronounced dead on arrival.

    Police said they had suffocated after inhaling carbon monoxide from the fire.

    The cause of the fire was not immediately established. The bodies were moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures, police said.

    In Nyamira’s Matongo area, one Samuel Mongare, 57 was killed in a fire incident. The fire burnt down his house in the village, police said. The police said the cause of the fire was not immediately known.

    In Sekenani area, Narok County, a four-year-old boy drowned in a water tank as he played with his friends.

    The boy was playing with his friends when he slipped into the tank that was full of water and drowned therein. The body was retrieved from the tank and taken to the mortuary pending autopsy and other procedures, police said.

    In Kapsabet, Nandi County, one Khadija Vuhunji King’ashi, 60 was found dead in her house after a suspected murder.

    The body did not have any injuries when it was discovered in the house, police said as they moved it to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.
