    Murder suspect dies by suicide even as autopsy shows victim died of natural causes in Narok

    A murder suspect was found dead after a suspected suicide at his father’s farm in Gakindu village, Gikandu location in Kiharu Sub-County in Murang’a County.

    Police said Geoffrey Kang’ethe Njau died by suicide on September 24 two days after the body of his girlfriend had been found in their house in Narok’s Sealock area.

    Police officers rushed to the scene of the incident and found the body of Mercy Cherono Mutai, 32 lying naked along Nyawira Road.

    She had no physical injuries but her right leg had a bandage, which according to locals, she had previously suffered a broken leg and had sought treatment.

    The incident happened about 50 meters from her rented house.

    Police said then the husband was missing. He was later found dead in the farm after suspected suicide.

    A postmortem was conducted on the body of Cherono at Narok County Referral Hospital and confirmed it had no physical injuries and there was no sign of rape as earlier suspected.

    Police said the pathologist concluded that the cause of death was as a result of cardiorespiratory arrest due to likely underlying conditions.

    This has left the families in shock.

    Meanwhile, police in Wanguru, Kirinyaga County are investigating murder in an incident where the body of a woman was found at a local market.

    The body of Josephine Wangui, 77 was found in Gachuria Moyo market in Kamunyange sub location Murinduko location, police said.

    The body which was naked had visible injuries on the back of the head.

    Police said the body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and investigations.

    And in Mbaraki, Mombasa County, a man was trapped and killed after a house collapsed on him.

    The incident happened in the Star of the Sea area on Monday afternoon.

    It was established that the deceased with others were demolishing the old structure when the wall collapsed on him, fatally trapping him.

    Police moved the body to the mortuary pending an autopsy and investigations.
