Police in Kirima Sub-County, Laikipia County launched investigations following the discovery of a suspected murder victim whose body had been dumped in a maize plantation in Ng’arua area.

According to police, the incident was reported on Monday at around 1:20 p.m., after residents spotted a suspicious object wrapped in sacks within Savannah Village.

Police officers who responded to the scene found the body of an unidentified man believed to be in his late 20s.

The body had been tightly wrapped in white sacks and concealed between rows of maize on a one-acre farm belonging to a local resident.

Preliminary examination revealed no visible external injuries, but police noted clear signs of strangulation, with marks observed around the neck.

Blood was also seen oozing from the nose and mouth, raising suspicion of foul play.

Fingerprint samples were collected at the scene to assist in identifying the deceased, as investigations into the circumstances surrounding the killing get underway.

The body was moved to Sipili Nursing Home mortuary, where it is being preserved pending identification and a post-mortem examination.

Police appealed to members of the public with information that could help identify the victim or shed light on the incident to come forward.

Elsewhere, police in Masinga Sub-County, Machakos County, launched investigations after the body of an unidentified middle-aged man was discovered at the bank of a stream in Kithyoko area.

According to police, the grim discovery was made on Monday morning at around 10:00 a.m. by a woman who had gone to her farm.

On reaching Ikethekeya stream in Ikethekeya village, she stumbled upon the decomposing body lying at the edge of the water.

Officers from Kithyoko Police Station responded to the scene and confirmed the incident. The body, which was already in an advanced state of decomposition, could not be immediately identified.

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Masinga Sub-county later joined the officers at the scene, where they processed and documented evidence as part of ongoing investigations.

The body was subsequently moved to Machakos County Hospital mortuary, where it awaits identification and a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.

Police say efforts are underway to establish the identity of the deceased and circumstances surrounding the death.
