Intermittent cross border raids marked the better part of Tuesday at the restive Kiango township along the troubled Narok – Kisii County border.
A resident, Hesborn Oyagi, said fighting was still going on latevinto late hours Tuesday at some fertile valley outside Kiango township.
Kenyenya Deputy County Commissioner William Bett, however, denied the claim saying no fighting ever takes place at night.
“There had only been sporadic encounters between the two sides for the better part of early today,” said Bett by phone Tuesday night.
He also disputed rumors that have been circulating online claiming to a student returning to school at Shankoe area in Transmara West, was killed.
“No student has been hacked to death, that is propaganda that we have investigated and so far there is no credible information to that effect.”
“It is just hoax meant to incite violence . Neither police from either this side have received such information,” said the security chief.
Earlier, a bodaboda rider had his motorbike impounded by some arrow wielding youth metres outside Transmara Tea factory.
The rider was said transporting a passenger heading back to Transmara from Nyamache when the incident occured.
He was unhurt though, witnesses said.
Bett asked the warring youth to lay down their crude weapons and give peace a chance.
At least two people have been killed in the clashes sparked by cattle rustling incident.
Several farms of sugarcane were also set ablaze even as more police were sent to the area to quell violence. Local leaders have urged for calm.
