    Siblings

Noah has two brothers, both of whom share the family’s strong connection to cricket. His older brother is Sam Ross Mostyn Thain, born in July 2003 at the same hospital in Huntingdon.

Sam, who is also known as SRM Thain, first played cricket with Noah in their back garden when Noah was around eight years old.

Sam has represented Cambridgeshire at age-group levels including Under-14, Under-15, Under-17 and Under-18.

He has also played club cricket for sides such as Thriplow, The Leys School, Cambridge St Giles and Cambridgeshire in minor counties Twenty20 cricket.

Noah’s younger brother is Reuben Nelson Mostyn Thain, born on 6 May 2008, also at Hinchingbrooke.

Reuben, listed as RNM Thain, is a right-hand batter and right-arm off-break bowler who attended The Leys School.

He has featured for Cambridgeshire in minor counties Twenty20 matches and has been involved with the Essex Academy pathway.

    Career

Thain made his first-class debut for Essex against Ireland in a tour match on 26 May 2023, taking his first professional wicket in his fifth over.

He followed this with a List A debut against Lancashire on 1 August 2023.

He later made his Twenty20 debut against Sussex on 13 June 2025 at Hove.

After a rookie summer contract in 2023, he signed a full professional deal, later extended so that he remains contracted to Essex into the later 2020s.

He has become a regular member of the Essex first team across formats, typically batting in the lower middle order and operating as a seam-bowling option.

For England Under-19s, he has appeared in both Youth Tests and Youth One-Day Internationals.

He scored consecutive half-centuries against Sri Lanka and formed part of the squad for the 2024 Under-19 World Cup.

He has also played minor counties cricket for Cambridgeshire.

Across first-class, List A and T20 cricket, he has accumulated substantial experience while still in his early twenties, contributing both runs and wickets for Essex.

    Accolades

Thain was named Essex Academy Player of the Year in both 2022 and 2023.

In the 2022 season, he scored more than 850 runs at an average of 77 for Essex age-group sides.

His campaign included a standout innings of 293 against Kent Under-18s and four consecutive centuries.

His consistent performances helped earn him England Under-19 recognition and regular first-team opportunities at Essex.

He has also featured in notable individual displays, such as career-best first-class scores and useful bowling returns, while contributing to Essex’s campaigns in the County Championship, One-Day Cup and Vitality Blast.
