    parliamentJubilee Party Members of Parliament while tabling the the election amendment laws have asked to reduce the publication period of a Bill from 14 days to one days.

    They say that they used standing Order 120 of the parliamentary standing orders which  allows them to reduce the period of publication

    The standing order prescribes that;

    ‘No Bill shall be introduced unless such Bill together with the memorandum referred to in Standing Order 117 (Memorandum of objects and reasons), has been published in the Gazette (as a Bill to be originated in the Assembly), and unless, in the case of a Consolidated Fund Bill, an Appropriation Bill or a Supplementary Appropriation Bill, a period of seven days, and in the case of any other Bill a period of fourteen days, beginning in each case from the day of such publication, or such shorter period as the House may resolve with respect to the Bill, has ended.

    NASA members of parliament have argued that since the bills in relation to elections which is an emotive topic currently the bill should follow the cause of fourteen days as prescribed in the standing orders.

    They also argue that the bill should go through the process of public participation that is necessary for the said amendments.
