Porro Ward Member of the County Assembly (MCA) Patrick Lerte has passed away.
His death was confirmed through an internal memo issued by the Samburu County Assembly Clerk, Fred Lenapeer, who said the MCA died on the morning of Sunday, December 28.
Lerte was receiving treatment at Maralal Referral Hospital at the time of his death. However, details about his illness have not been made public.
According to preliminary reports, the MCA had fallen ill several days before his death and had been undergoing treatment until he passed away.
Lerte was first elected in 2022 on an Amani National Congress (ANC) ticket. The party later merged with President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) earlier this year.
Until his death, he served as the Chairperson of the County Assembly Committee on Lands and Physical Planning. He was widely described by colleagues as a dedicated public servant.
Samburu West Member of Parliament Naisula Lesuuda was among the leaders who mourned him. She sent her condolences to Lerte’s family, fellow MCAs, the people of Porro Ward, and residents of Samburu County.
