Prepare to leave, Nyaribari Masaba UDA hopeful tells embattled ODM MP Manduku

Nyaribari Masaba Member of Parliament Daniel Manduku was Thursday asked to start packing and leave office ahead of the 2027 elections.

United Democratic Alliance politician Ben Momanyi accused Dr Manduku of leaving the electorate to fend for themselves as he enjoyed life elsewhere.

Nyaribari Masaba, he stated, needs a leader who is present and accountable, not a nomad.

“Our people deserve better than an absentee MP who does not even show up where the national cake is being shared.”

“With an MP who is at large there shall be no tangible development. Look at other neighboring constituencies and you can agree with me that it is good to be in government, to reap more,” said Momanyi.

Momanyi who unsuccessfully vied for the MP seat in 2017 would be making a second stab in 2027 on the ruling party ticket.

On Thursday, he said it was shameful that much of the  constituency’s national development share cannot be accounted for due to lack of effective leadership from the sitting MP.

“Such is the drama that I now find him loitering in Nairobi lamenting to who cares that the president is not receiving his calls,” stated Momanyi.

Momanyi was speaking at Ekerubo, Ichuni Ward at  Masaba South in Kisii during a meet the people tour.

During the tours he also inspected the government’s affordable housing project at Ekerubo.

The housing scheme inaugurated by President William Ruto would have 240 units by its completion time.

Momanyi further asked the President to give the locals priority during the unit allocations.

“We ask that these people sitting here, some of whom sacrificed their land for the project to start off, be given priority during the allocations,” Momanyi said.

He further implored Ruto to slash the housing units prices for the locals who will be  interested.

“If it is within your means to revise down the prices so that these people also get a feel of this project so be it,” the UDA pointman stated.

Momanyi  lashed out at MP Manduku for speaking of development  stagnation in the vast constituency due to lack of proper leadership .

He spoke of a dysfunctional CDF office and dismal bursary applications.

“The lamentations from our people about poor leadership is premised on the constant losing out on development opportunities because of an absentee MP,” Momanyi told supporters who turned up to see him.

Kitutu Chache North politician Stephen Nyarangi said already the region has begun taping into various development programs among them the Suneka Airstrip and planned expansion of the Sotik-Kisii highway.

Momanyi expressed his support for Ruto’s  development agenda, saying he means well for the residents of the constituency.

He also commended Ruto’s resolve to improve the country’s economy.

“The President continues to demonstrate a clear commitment to improving the lives of ordinary Kenyans, he needs a two term in office,” said Momanyi.

“His policies are people-centered, and I believe with the right leadership at the grassroots, we can complement those efforts effectively.”
