President Uhuru Kenyatta has told the Chief Justice David Maraga to develop ‘a thick skin’ as a means to cope with the unwarranted and harsh criticisms that will be directed at him and his office.

He added that what will be said will not always be flattering and that he should consult.

President Kenyatta also lauded the judiciary for milestones that they had made but asked the judiciary to be mindful of decisions that may affect the other arms of the government.

The two were speaking at a ceremony that was attended by all the three arms of government where the CJ presented the report on the state of the Judiciary and the Administration of Justice Report (SOJAR) .

The Chief Justice in his address renewed the judiciary’s commitment to work with the arms of the government.

He said that the government remains one of their prime litigants as defendants and at times as plaintiffs.

“Even though we do not rule in favor of the government we are not enemies, it should not cause tension,”Justice Maraga said.

The Judiciary said that they have worked hard to bring reforms and end corruption within the judiciary and asked the other arms of government to join forces with the judiciary in order to fight the menace.
