Tea and coffee processing company Sasini has appointed Mr Martin R Ochien’g as the Group managing director, effective from March 1, 2019.
Ochien’g replaces Stephen Maina Githiga who resigned last year, two months to the expiry of his tenure.
Githiga opted not to renew his tenure at the helm of the company and proceeded on leave for the remainder of his two year contract which expired on December 31, 2018.
Group Financial Controller Dr Samuel Kanga Odalo was appointed the managing director in an acting capacity.
Ochien’g has previously worked for 3M Healthcare as a medical representative in charge of Western Kenya region before he joined Warner Lambert/Pfizer Inc. in 1997 as a territory manager covering Western Kenya, Eastern Uganda and North-Western Tanzania regions.
In 2003, he moved with Pfizer to South Africa as head of marketing for Sub Saharan Africa markets. He has also worked for KWV International as head of global marketing.
He later worked for Tyco International as Marketing and strategy director for Africa and Middle East region and later a managing director.
Ochien’g has also served GHM South Africa as the CEO as well as the managing director for SGA Kenya.

Currently, he is a board member of the Maseno Alumni Investments Limited and chairs its Corporate Governance Committee.
He holds a First Class Honours Bachelor of Science Degree from Moi University and a Master of Business Administration degree in strategic Marketing and Management from Oxford Brookes University in England.
