Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko ranked last in a performance report by Trends and Insights for Africa (Tifa) ranking three Kenyan cities; Nairobi, Kisumu and Mombasa.

According to the poll, coming in at number one was Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o scored a 56 per cent (C+) followed by Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho, with a 53% score (C).

Sonko came in third with a meager 44 per cent giving him a D+ in the citizens service delivery score card.

62 percent of city residents felt Sonko had done well in street lighting, while fifteen percent said he had done well in education and 50 percent in education through youth polytechnics.

“With these scores, it is evident that Nairobians are not happy with Sonko’s service delivery. For example, 61 percent of the respondents said he has failed to maintain feeder roads, some 10 percent think the same roads are too congested while nine percent say he has closed them,” Tifa Managing Director Maggie Ireri said.

Mombasa residents on the other hand bemoaned blocked sewers, poor garbage collection and harassment from county officials.

Kisumu residents were also not impressed with the sewer system and the public health services.

Data was collected from 500 people, the margin of error being +/- five percent.
