    Sophia Njeri Arrested For Taping Police Officers Did Not Commit Any Crime – DPP Says

    The DPP have rejected the charges against Sophia Njeri Wa Muthoni stating that she did not commit a crime. She had been arrested and charged for obstruction of justice.

    The prosecution said that Njeri did not commit any crime. They said that the police did not have sufficient evidence for the woman to be charged with the said charge.

    Njeri filmed five police officers as the dragged another lady passenger from the front seat of a Matatu that they had arrested.  She was taken to Kasarani police station and was later released on a cash bail of Sh10000.

    Kenyans on social media who saw the video termed Njeri’s arrest as impunity from the police and called for her release under the hash tag #releaseNjeri.

    The Independent Policing and Oversight Authority the arrest and had the matter with Kasarani police station.
