A three-year-old boy drowned after accidentally falling into a fish pond at his family home in Mbukoli Village, Nembure Sub-County, Embu County.
The incident occurred on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at around 2:30pm, according to a police report filed at Nembure Police Station.
Police said the boy was playing beside the fish pond when he accidentally fell into the water and drowned.
His father reported the incident to police after the boy was rescued and rushed to Nembure Health Centre. However, medical personnel pronounced him dead on arrival.
Officers from Nembure Police Station, led by the Officer Commanding Station (OCS), visited and processed the scene.
The boy’s body was later moved to Gakwegori Mortuary, where it is being preserved pending a postmortem examination.
Police have commenced investigations into the circumstances surrounding the drowning.
And a 38-year-old man is in critical condition after he was reportedly attacked by a mob at his house in Mareba slums, Lungalunga area of Nairobi, following allegations that he was involved in the murder of a 19-year-old woman.
He was subjected to mob justice on October 2, 2026, after being accused of causing the death of Fridah Mueni Muya, aged 19.
According to police the suspect was rescued by a team after sustaining serious head injuries during the attack.
He was initially rushed to Mukuyuni Level 4 Hospital for treatment.
Police said Mwanthi was subsequently transferred to Mbagathi Hospital, where he remained in critical condition while receiving treatment.
Investigations into the alleged murder of Fridah Mueni Muya and the circumstances surrounding the mob attack are ongoing.
