Kenyan Premier League has asked Gor Mahia chairman Mr. Ambrose Rachier to “investigate and sanction” an official involved in stealing the club’s gate takings.

The official whom KahawaTungu has independently established as the club’s treasurer Sally Bollo is accused of inflating expenses in gate collection sheet with the difference going unaccounted.

This occurred during a double header match involving Gor Mahia and Kariobangi Sharks on 30th June at Nyayo Stadium.

According to documents seen by us, there are glaring discrepancies between figures in ticket vendor’s (Timam Events & Ticketing Ltd) sheet and those in the treasurer’s.

For example in the vendor’s sheet, police (GSU) where paid Kshs 50,000 to provide security Kshs 45,000 less than what appears in the treasurer’s report for the same.

The treasurer’s sheet goes ahead to include “logistics” expenses for Kshs 50,000 that does not appear in the vendor’s report.

The match realized a total of Kshs 636,900 in gate takings but after all deductions, Timam recorded a net profit of Kshs 296,275 while Sally’s tally gave a paltry Kshs 5,995.

Sharks, who were entitled to 20% of the net profit as per KPL rules raised a red flag leading to a joint probe by league’s management body and the club, which brought to fore the damning revelations.

“Based on the tabulation sheet certified by Mr. Chris Kuguru of Timam Events and Ticketing Ltd, we are convinced that this is the true and correct reflection realized in the match. Any other purported tabulation by Gor Mahia FC is outright fraud that we condemn in its entirety; and by copy of this letter, we call upon Gor Mahia FC chairman to investigate and sanction such officials that try to malign and bring the management of football into disrepute,” KPL letter reads in part.

Since the theft, a different official has been handed the mandate to supervise the gates in the past two games, including the Sunday’s Mashemeji Derby.
