The University of Nairobi (UoN) has warned first-year students and their parents against a fake website allegedly being used to scam them over university accommodation.

The university issued the warning on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, after receiving reports that the website was targeting newly admitted students seeking information about university hostels.

“We have received information that this website has been used to SCAM the first years’ and their parents. Kindly take note that this is not a University of Nairobi website,” the university said.

UoN urged students and parents to exercise caution and avoid sharing personal or financial information through unofficial platforms purporting to represent the university.

The university said all student registration processes should be accessed through its official Student Management Information System at smis.uonbi.ac.ke.

“Share the information with a first year and a parent on your timeline,” the university added.

The warning comes ahead of the reporting of first-year students for the 2026/2027 academic year.

First-year students are scheduled to physically report to the University of Nairobi on Monday, August 24, 2026, for arrival, registration and orientation.

The university has advised students and their parents to rely on official UoN communication channels when seeking information on accommodation, registration, fees and other admission-related processes.
