David Blaine has an estimated net worth of $50 million. The American illusionist and endurance artist is known for transforming modern magic by blending street performance with extreme physical stunts. He rose to global fame after the television special David Blaine: Street Magic, which introduced audiences to his minimalist close-up style and captured authentic reactions from unsuspecting spectators.

Throughout his career, Blaine has become famous for pushing the limits of the human body through daring endurance feats. His stunts have included being buried alive for seven days in 1999, encased in a block of ice for more than 61 hours in 2000, and standing atop a 100-foot pillar for 35 hours in 2002. In 2003, he spent 44 days suspended in a glass box above the River Thames, surviving without food.

In 2008, Blaine set a world record by holding his breath for 17 minutes and 4 seconds during a live television broadcast. He has continued performing spectacular feats in recent years, including David Blaine Ascension, where he floated nearly 25,000 feet above the Arizona desert using helium balloons.

In 2025, he debuted the documentary-style series David Blaine: Do Not Attempt, which follows him traveling around the world to learn and perform daring acts alongside local thrill-seekers.

    David Blaine Earnings

David Blaine earns significant income from live performances, television specials, and private events.

    • In a typical non-touring year, he can earn about $5 million performing shows in Las Vegas and at private engagements.
    • When touring internationally, his annual earnings can reach up to $15 million.
    • In 2017, he reportedly earned $4.5 million.
    • In 2018, his earnings rose to $13.5 million, making him one of the highest-paid magicians in the world that year.

    Early Life

David Blaine was born David Blaine White on April 4, 1973, in Brooklyn. His mother, Patrice Maureen White, was a teacher, while his father, William Perez, was a Vietnam War veteran.

Blaine’s fascination with magic began when he was four years old after seeing a magician perform on a subway. The experience sparked a lifelong passion for illusion and performance.

When Blaine was ten, his mother married John Bukalo, and the family moved to Little Falls, where he attended Passaic Valley Regional High School. After graduating, he relocated to Manhattan to pursue a career in entertainment.

His breakthrough came in 1997 when “David Blaine: Street Magic” aired on ABC, launching him into national fame.

    Famous Live Stunts

Blaine gained international notoriety in 1999 with the stunt “Buried Alive.” During the event, he spent seven days sealed inside a coffin beneath a water-filled tank in New York City. Tens of thousands of spectators visited the site to watch the stunt unfold.

In 2000, he attempted “Frozen in Time” in Times Square, where he stood encased in a giant block of ice. He endured nearly 64 hours before being removed due to concerns about hypothermia and shock.

Two years later, Blaine performed “Vertigo,” balancing atop a 100-foot pillar in Bryant Park for 35 hours without a safety harness.

Perhaps his most controversial stunt came in 2003 with “Above the Below.” Suspended in a transparent box beside Tower Bridge, Blaine fasted for 44 days, losing roughly 60 pounds before being hospitalized after the stunt concluded.

In 2006, he performed “Drowned Alive,” spending seven days submerged in a water-filled sphere while researchers monitored his physical condition.

Another highly publicized stunt was “Electrified: One Million Volts Always On” in 2012, where Blaine stood on a pillar surrounded by Tesla coils producing intense electrical currents for 72 hours.

    Television Specials

Beyond live stunts, Blaine has built a reputation through several successful television specials.

In 2013, he starred in the ABC special David Blaine: Real or Magic, performing illusions for celebrities including Kanye West, Will Smith, Bryan Cranston, and Harrison Ford.

He followed that with David Blaine: Beyond Magic, which included one of his most talked-about illusions—appearing to catch a bullet in a metal cup held in his mouth.

In 2020, he released another special, David Blaine: The Magic Way, which featured virtual magic performances during the COVID-19 era.

Over the years, Blaine has also performed for three U.S. presidents: Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama.

    Personal Life

David Blaine was previously engaged to French model Alizée Guinochet from 2009 until their separation in 2014. The couple share a daughter, Dessa, who was born in 2011.

    Real Estate

Blaine owns multiple properties around the world, including homes in New York City, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and Paris.

In 2005, he purchased a duplex apartment in Tribeca, Manhattan, for $1.675 million. Earlier, in 1998, he bought a smaller New York apartment that he later listed for sale in 2016 for $2.3 million.
