    Early Life

Matthew Michael Hasselbeck was born on September 25, 1975, in Boulder, Colorado, and raised in Norfolk, Massachusetts. He comes from a football family—his father, Don Hasselbeck, played tight end for the New England Patriots.

Matt attended Xaverian Brothers High School in Westwood, Massachusetts, where he excelled as a quarterback and earned honorable mention All-American recognition from USA Today during his senior year.

He later attended Boston College, where he played quarterback for the Eagles from 1994 to 1997. He graduated with a degree in marketing after finishing his college career as the team’s starting quarterback.

His younger brother, Tim Hasselbeck, also played in the NFL and later became a television analyst and sports media personality.

    NFL Career

Matt Hasselbeck was selected by the Green Bay Packers in the sixth round of the 1998 NFL Draft with the 187th overall pick. He initially spent time on the practice squad and served as a backup to Hall of Famer Brett Favre.

In 2001, Hasselbeck was traded to the Seattle Seahawks, a move that would define his career. After earning the starting job in 2003, he became the face of the franchise and led the team through its most successful stretch at the time.

    Key NFL achievements include:

    • Three Pro Bowl selections (2003, 2005, 2007)
    • Six playoff appearances with Seattle
    • One Super Bowl appearance (Super Bowl XL)
    • Over 36,000 career passing yards
    • 212 touchdown passes

After more than a decade in Seattle, Hasselbeck spent time with the Tennessee Titans (2011–2012), where he served as both starter and veteran leader. He later signed with the Indianapolis Colts in 2013, primarily serving as a backup and mentor to Andrew Luck.

He officially retired from the NFL in 2016.

In 2021, Hasselbeck was inducted into the Seattle Seahawks Ring of Honor, recognizing his impact on the franchise.
