Police in Ruai, Nairobi, are investigating the death of a woman whose body was found inside a friend’s house following an alleged overnight fight.
The incident was reported on September 16, 2026, at about 7:05 p.m.
According to the police, the deceased, identified as Elizabeth Wanjiru Wangare, had sought accommodation from her friend, after allegedly being chased away from her mother’s home.
The friend told police that the deceased approached her on Tuesday, September 15, at around 10 p.m., requesting a place to spend the night. She gave her the house keys and contacted a boda boda rider who ferried the deceased to the house.
The friend then proceeded to spend the night at her boyfriend’s residence.
On Wednesday at about 1 p.m., she returned to her house accompanied by another friend. After knocking and receiving no response, the two reportedly peeped inside and saw the deceased lying on the floor, covered with a blanket.
Neighbours informed them that a fight had allegedly taken place at the house during the night. With the assistance of the neighbours, they broke open the door and found the woman dead.
Police officers visited the scene and found the body on the floor.
The police indicated that the deceased’s left hand appeared dislocated, blood was oozing from her nose, and blood stains were visible on the mattress.
Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) officers processed and documented the scene before the body was moved to the Nairobi City Mortuary, where it is awaiting postmortem.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.
Elsewhere, detectives in Kitui are investigating the death of a middle-aged woman whose body was found in a rented house at Kalundu Market.
Police said her trousers and undergarment were found beside her near the door of rented house number four.
The deceased was reportedly known to work as a sex worker. Her caretaker, told police that she had last seen her on Tuesday, September 15, at about 8 p.m.
Used and unused condoms were reportedly recovered beside the body, while a white scarf was found around her neck. Police suspect the scarf may have been used to strangle her.
The body had no visible physical injuries.
The scene was processed, and the body was moved to the Kitui County Referral Hospital Mortuary, where it is awaiting autopsy.
Police investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.
