A 42-year-old man died after being electrocuted while working with an electric drill at Lancaster Trading Centre in Bungoma County.

According to police, the incident occurred at about 3:45 p.m. on June 3 within Bungoma South Sub-County.

The deceased, identified as Kennedy Munyereti, was reportedly inside his house drilling timber using an electric drill when he suffered a fatal electric shock.

Police officers and personnel from the Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) visited the scene to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Crime scene investigators processed and documented the scene as part of ongoing inquiries.

The body was later removed to the Bungoma County Referral Hospital mortuary, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination.

Authorities have launched investigations into the incident, with findings expected to determine the exact cause of the electrocution. And police in Dagoretti, Nairobi, are investigating the murder of a Burundian national who was stabbed to death while returning home after work on Tuesday night.

The incident was reported at Riruta Police Station at about 11:58 p.m. on June 3 after information was received that a worker had been stabbed in the Deliverance area.

Police rushed to the scene and found the lifeless body of Erneste, a Burundian adult male, lying in a pool of blood.

According to the deceased’s colleague, the two were heading home after hawking socks when they were confronted by a woman identified and a man.

The pair allegedly demanded that they produce their national identification documents.

Police said the confrontation turned violent, and during the assault, the assailant allegedly stabbed the deceased in the abdomen before fleeing.

Crime scene investigators processed the area and documented the incident. Preliminary examination revealed that the victim had sustained a deep stab wound to the lower abdomen. The weapon used in the attack was not recovered.

One suspect was arrested at the scene and handed over to DCI officers for further investigations. The second suspect, Martin Gustavo, remains at large and is being sought by police.

The body was removed from the scene pending post-mortem examination as detectives continue investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal attack.
