The director of public prosecution( DPP) has suspended theft charges of a girl who was allegedly defiled while in a police cell in Murang’a. Laban Njogu pleaded not guilty of defiling thirteen year old who had been charged with handling stolen property.
The DPP objected to the request for bond by the accused officer saying that if the child was defiled under police custody the same could happen while she was at home. The magistrate while deciding the case gave consideration to the fact that the minor was a Kenya Certificate of Primary Education candidate.
