Nico Hischier is a Swiss professional ice hockey centre and the captain of the New Jersey Devils in the National Hockey League (NHL).
Born on January 4, 1999, in Naters, he stands at 6’1″ and weighs approximately 200 pounds.
He shoots left and was selected first overall by the Devils in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft, becoming the first Swiss player ever taken at the top of the draft.

Career
Hischier began his hockey career in Switzerland with EHC Visp before moving to SC Bern, where he played alongside his brother Luca.
He then crossed the Atlantic to play junior hockey for the Halifax Mooseheads in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL), where his strong performance made him a top prospect.
The New Jersey Devils selected him first overall in 2017, and he made the immediate jump to the NHL.
In his rookie season, Hischier impressed with 52 points in 82 games.
He steadily improved over the years, posting career-high numbers including a 31-goal, 80-point season in 2022-23.
On February 20, 2021, he was named the 12th captain in Devils history at age 22, becoming one of the youngest captains in the league.
