Four legislators from Bomet County walked out of an event graced by the head of state, Uhuru Kenyatta.

The president was in the region to officially open the Bomet University.

The MPs; Bomet Central MP Ronald Tonui, Bomet East MP Beatrice Kones, Konoin MP Brighton Yegon and Bomet Senator Christopher Langat staged a walk out after being denied a chance to address the people.

This was shortly after Mr Kenyatta had addressed members of the public present.

The four lawmakers also claimed that a high percentage of workers at the varsity come from the same community.

They were also protesting apparent nepotism in the awarding of the contract to construct the institution of higher learning.

Western Kenya leaders during the Mashujaa Day celebrations that took place at the Bukhungu Stadium, Kakamega complained of being overlooked.

Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale on Saturday said that the Western leaders were “demeaned.”

“Today’s was a national function in Kakamega. We know! But blocking all of us from speaking after state protocol was breached has left us & our people seriously demeaned,” he tweeted on Saturday,” Khalwale tweeted.
