Liverpool wonder striker Mohamed Salah scored directly from a corner kick as Egypt thumped eSwatini 4-1 in the Afcon 2019 qualifiers Group J tie at Al-Salam Stadium Friday.

Salah, however, did not finish the match as he limped off in the dying minutes of the game with substitutions exhausted as Egypt finished 10-men.

Ahmed Elmohamedy put the Pharaohs in the lead with just six minutes played with Amr Warda doubling the lead five minutes later.

Mahmoud Trezeguet made it 3-0 at the half mark before Salah delivered the spectacle, scoring directly from a corner kick with a beautiful curler on the stroke of half time.

The goal was Salah’s 36th in 61 official caps, making him third top scorer for the Pharaohs at only 26-years of age.

Salah also broke legendary Hossam Hassan’s record of 12 goals in the Afcon qualifiers.

Egypt manager Hany Ramzy confirmed that the injury was “nothing major” but added that the former Roma player will have to undergo scans.

“Primaru diagnosis confirm it is just a strain and no tear is apparent. But the player will need to undergo scans to determine the extent of the injury and time to heal.”

Egypt as second in Group J standings on six points same as Tunisia who play Niger Saturday.
