Dr Alfred Mutua’s first day back in office as Governor for his second term was eventful as he suspended 437 employees from the finance departments.
The workers who included accountants, procurement officers and auditors were sent home to allow an audit.

He said that the move was to allow an independent audit and give people value for their money. Governor Mutua said that the move which he called ‘radical surgery’ was as a result of various interactions with Machakos County residents.
He said that he promised his people efficient and transparent government services.
The elected leaders agreed to work with Mutua for the benefit of the county residents.
The Machakos governor floored Wiper Party’s Wavinya Ndeti in the just concluded August 8 poll.
Ndeti accused the governor of rigging her out.
