Residents in Nakuru set ablaze a vehicle that was found ferrying donkey meat to the nearby butcheries. The angry residents destroyed the meat and the vehicle completely.

This comes in the wake of reports that residents in Nakuru had been consuming cat meat for the past seven years after one person was arrested and jailed for slaughtering and selling cat meat.

Butcheries in Kenya are not authorized to sell donkey meat but there is a license that can be acquired and given to interested parties and owners of abattoirs can seek licenses at the relevant veterinary offices to slaughter and sell the meat outside the country.
