Health CS Mutahi Kagwe on Saturday confirmed 735 new Covid-19 cases from 7,671 samples tested in the last 24 hours. As a result, the country’s caseload rose to 87,984. The cumulative tests are now 927,082. Of the new cases, 723 are Kenyans while 12 are foreigners. In terms of gender 467 are males and 268 females. The youngest is a four-month-old infant, while the oldest is 87. 422 patients have recovered from the novel virus; 369 from home-based care and 53 discharged from various hospitals. Interior CS Fred Matiang’i on Saturday attended the Erikunoto E-siankiki and Itara ceremony of former Interior CS Joseph Nkaissery’s son, Kenneth Mumeita Nkaissery and Wangechi Migwi. The traditional ceremony was held at their home in Ilbisil, Kajiado County. Matiang’i was accompanied by PS Public Works Rt. Maj. Comedian Eric Omondi has declined to vacate his Lavington offices following an order from the Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS). According to the funnyman who recently launched his Big Tyme Entertainment offices in the posh estate, he did not receive a formal letter from NMS demanding that he vacates the premises. Somalia’s Ministry of Education has expressed regret after a Form Four Geography text book cut the Somalia coastline from 3,333KM to 2,800KM. In a statement released on November 30, the ministry did not explain how the error came about but indicated that an alarm was raised by a teacher. The ministry is yet to take any disciplinary action against the authors and is yet to declare whether the text books will be recalled. Machakos Senator Boniface Mutinda Kabaka’s family has denied claims that he collapsed at a woman’s house in Kilimani. According to the family spokesperson, the legislator who is currently hospitalised at Nairobi Hospital, was having a drink at a Kilimani restaurant when he developed a severe migraine. Of the four winning fintechs, three are operated by Kenyans while the fourth has some foreign interest. Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Nelson Havi has accused council CEO Mercy Wambua of colluding with some members to sabotage his leadership. The High Court on Thursday ordered the government to pay back people forced to go into quarantine in isolation centres. According to Justice James Makau, the state erred by forcing people into quarantine without obtaining an order from a magistrate’s court as required by law. Kenya Airways (KQ) has lost yet another senior captain to the novel COVID-19. Captain Salah Salim Jeizan breathed his last at a London hospital on Wednesday, the carrier’s chief human resources officer Evelyne Munyoki said in a condolence message. Mombasa Principal Magistrate Elvis Michieka has passed away. Michieka died while receiving treatment at the Karen Hospital, the Kenya Judges and Magistrates Association Secretary-General Derrick Kuto confirmed. “He passed on this morning (Wednesday, December 2) while receiving treatment at Karen Hospital, Nairobi.
