In his address, the head of state named Kiambu, Nairobi, Machakos, Kajiado and Nakuru as the highly contagious counties. 1,540 new Covid-19 cases were recorded on Wednesday from a sample size of 9,348, Health CAS Dr Mercy Mwangangi has confirmed. The total number of cases has as a result risen to 124,707. The positivity rate is now at 16.5%. Of the new cases, 1,446 are Kenyans while 94 are foreigners. In terms of gender, 829 are males while 711 are females with the youngest being a six-month-old child and the oldest aged 110 years. 184 patients have recovered from the disease; 95 from home-based isolation care while 89 are from various health facilities. Nyamira County government may have paid ghost workers Sh2.8 billion in the 2018/19 Financial Year, Auditor General Nancy Gathungu has revealed. Kenya on Tuesday recorded 1,127 new cases of Covid-19 from a sample size of 5,393, Health CAS Dr Rashid Aman has confirmed. The new positive cases push the tally to 123,167. Thus far, Kenya’s positivity rate is 22.1%. Referral hospitals will soon reject walk-in patients, the government has said. This was after Health CS Mutahi Kagwe announced a planned upgrade of hospitals in informal parts of Nairobi.
