At least 11 people were killed and another dozen injured when gunmen opened fire on locals who had gathered at a football pitch in the city of Salamanca in central Mexico on Sunday. The European Commission announced it launched an investigation into Elon Musk’s X over concerns its AI tool Grok was used to create sexualised images of real people. A court in Malindi has granted the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) approval to formally charge Good News International Church leader Paul Nthenge Mackenzie and his co-accused over the deaths of 52 people linked to the Binzaro homestead in Kilifi County. A primary school teacher and a chief were killed in an attack by al-Shabaab militants at Hulugho town, Garissa County. The teacher served at Hulugho Primary School, while the chief was in charge of Boma Location. They were both shot at close range, fatally on Monday January 26. Detectives from Nairobi Central Sub-County have arrested two suspects believed to be part of an inter-country mobile phone theft syndicate, following the recovery of more than 900 stolen mobile phones in Nairobi’s Central Business District. The arrests followed an intelligence-led operation conducted along Charles Rubia Street near the busy Buscar bus stage. A 30-year-old woman and his eight-year-old son were burnt to death in a fire incident in Waithaka area, Dagoretti, Nairobi County. Detectives are investigating the murder of two men whose badly burnt bodies were found in a forest in Mt Elgon, Bungoma County.
