A 41-year-old man was arrested after he beat to death his 23-year-old daughter in Chesikaki village, in Mt. Elgon, Bungoma County. Police said Esther Nasimiyu succumbed to her injuries on Thursday night, following a clash of opinions over an unspecified family matter. Nasimiyu’s lifeless body was later discovered in her room on Friday January 10 at noon. According to police, her body bore multiple body injuries inflicted by a blunt object. Police urged parents to embrace alternative disciplinary methods as opposed to corporal punishment. A suspect who was ferrying 15 pieces of elephant tusks was arrested hours after he and an accomplice escaped and abandoned the cargo as security agents approached their hideout in Lungalunga, Kwale County. Police and Kenya Wildlife Service officials said the two are believed to have fetched the tusks from the neighbouring Tanzania for a market in Kenya. The suspect was traced to Mwantunu area where he was nabbed hours after he had escaped a dragnet. Journalist Rasna Warah is dead.  Her family confirmed the death on Saturday January 11 in a post on social media accounts. She had been battling an undisclosed illness. “Hello all. Second-hand car dealer Joseph Kairo Wambui, also known as Khalif Kairo was Saturday January 11 arrested after a client complained he sold her a car that had a loan elsewhere.  The car was later repossessed by auctioneers who had been sent by the lenders. At least four people were Friday night killed in an accident involving a public service vehicle and a bus on the Kapsabet-Eldoret highway.  This came hours before another one claimed three lives on the Londiani-Kisumu highway. At least 41 others were injured in the Saturday morning accident, police said. The Kapsabet accident happened at Mutwot area at about 10 pm, police said. At least three passengers were Saturday killed in an accident involving a bus on the Londiani-Kisumu Road.  Police said the accident happened Saturday at about 4 am after the driver of the bus nicknamed Dreamliner lost its control and landed in a ditch. A man who assaulted his sister in a domestic brawl was Friday charged in court.  Abdiaziz Abdullahi Hassan was charged before Makadara magistrate Caroline Mugo and denied the assault charges. A light aircraft crashed and caught fire in the Kwachocha area of Malindi, near the Malindi-Mombasa Highway. The plane reportedly landed on several motorcycles in the vicinity on January 10, 2025.
