Police and Kenya Wildlife Service officials arrested three suspects with 85.7 kilos of elephant tusks worth Sh8 million along Garsen-Witu Road in Tana River County. The arrests were made on Friday September 20 in an operation staged following reports the three were selling the tusks. A multi-agency security team Thursday recovered bomb making materials in an operation in Alango Warba within Garissa County. The Oxford English Dictionary (OED) added new East African words and phrases in its September 2024 update, among them ‘panya route’ and ‘kitu kidogo’. Former Rift Valley regional police commander Fredrick Ochieng is the new traffic commandant for the National Police Service.
