A police officer died after he shot himself in the head in a suspected suicide mission at his residence in Embakasi, Nairobi. President William Ruto Wednesday appointed Douglas Kanja as the new Inspector General of the National Police Service. Ruto made the appointment in a gazette notice dated September 18 and announced he will serve in the position for four years. A 21-year-old woman was Wednesday September 18 arrested over the fatal stabbing of her husband in a domestic fight in Matuu Township, Machakos County. Locals said they found the woman holding the deceased Rodney Muasia, 23 while soaked in blood and crying. New details have emerged about a gun drama case involving a civilian who had grabbed a rifle from a police officer in Emali, Makueni County. Kenyans and users of the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) services have at least ten days to change the scheme as the government remains determined to roll out the new medical insurance scheme under the Social Health Authority (SHA) by the October 1, 2024. This is despite existing legal challenges. Those seeking to use the scheme have to register for the SHA, or risk missing out on health insurance cover. At least 20 people have been killed and more than 450 wounded by a second wave of explosions from wireless communication devices in Lebanon, the country’s health ministry says. Walkie-talkies used by the armed group Hezbollah blew up in the southern suburbs of the capital Beirut, the Bekaa Valley, and southern Lebanon – areas seen as its strongholds. Police say they believe they have found the body of a suspected gunman who went on a highway shooting spree that wounded five people in Kentucky almost two weeks ago.  The body was found during the manhunt in Laurel County, along with accessories that have led police to conclude it is that of suspect Joseph Couch, authorities said in a press conference on Wednesday evening.
