President William Ruto Wednesday ordered universities, in conjunction with the Ministry of Education, to send fresh admission letters to cohorts of students planning to study courses in their respective institutions.  The letters initially dispatched to the applicants contain exaggerated financial information that was already scaring poor parents, Ruto observed. A Thai court has dismissed Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin for appointing to his cabinet a former lawyer who was once jailed.  The Constitutional Court ruled that Mr Srettha had violated the “rules on ethics” with “the display of defiant behaviour”. North Eastern region got a new police commander in changes announced by Deputy Inspector General of Kenya Police Eliud Lagat. Papita Ranka, a former lead bodyguard to president Uhuru Kenyatta was Tuesday named the new North Eastern Regional Police Commander (RPC). Police and Kenya Power officials are investigating an incident in which a 39-year-old woman was electrocuted in Shibale, Mumias, Kakamega County. Police said Sophy Obulialia, 39 was electrocuted while hanging clothes on the clothesline due to a naked wire coming in contact with the line. She was rushed to St. Mary’s Hospital where she passed away while undergoing treatment. The body was taken to the same facility morgue for a postmortem examination. At least 15 Ethiopians and their suspected smuggler were arrested from a residential house in Lucky Summer area, Nairobi as they waited to be moved out of the country. The group had been camping at the house while waiting for their suspected smuggler to ship them out to South Africa through the Kenya-Tanzania border.
