Homicide detectives from the DCI Monday took over the probe into the sudden death of actor Charles Ouda.  They want to know if he was killed or died by suicide. They also want to establish what drove him to die by suicide, if any. Slain Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) student Rita Waeni Muendo was buried at her parents’ home in Mukimwani Village, Kisau location, Makueni County. There was panic when a section of Embakasi residents Monday reported suspected gas leakage at the spot where a huge gas explosion occurred on Thursday, February 1, 2024.  But officials who from City Hall said there was no evidence to show there was such a leakage. The death toll from the Mradi gas explosion in Embakasi, Nairobi increased to six after three more victims succumbed to their burns in hospital, officials said. The victims had sustained serious injuries and were admitted at the Kenyatta National Hospital where they succumbed, officials said. Dozens of other victims have serious burns and are admitted in various hospitals in the city following the Thursday night explosion at a filling station. Detectives are investigating an incident in which the body of a prison warden was found rotting in her house after a suspected suicide.  The body was found Sunday in Tumaini Estate, Kitale, police say. Linda Machuma Wafula’s body was discovered on Sunday after neighbours reported a foul odour coming from her house. At least 100 people have been killed by forest fires in Chile’s Valparaíso region, local authorities have said. Gabriel Boric declared a state of emergency and said he would make “all necessary resources” available to tackle the situation. It is believed to be Chile’s deadliest forest fire on record. Many of those affected were visiting the coastal region during the summer holidays. A health alert was put in place in Valparaíso by the health ministry. At least five people were killed while nine others were injured in a road accident at Mahiga Meeru area, along the Nyahururu-Nyeri road on Saturday evening.  Police said the victims were a driver and women from St. Peters Gaitega, of Cathedral Parish of the Catholic Diocese of Murang’a.
